How PDF compression works

This tool rewrites the PDF and downsamples embedded images while keeping text and vector graphics as document content. It does not turn every page into an image. Compression depends on the original document; no fixed reduction is guaranteed. Password-protected PDFs are not supported.

PDFs are compressed locally using WebAssembly in a background worker. Files are not uploaded. Processing speed and maximum practical file size depend on your device; the compression engine downloads on first use.
